Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – Trail Mix Inc. brought their auction back to in-person with dinner on Saturday night.
Trail Mix Board Chairman Mark Pusich spoke about how it felt to invite the community back in public.
“Tonight is our annual auction dinner. It’s our main fundraising event for our Trail Mix organization, which is a non-profit organization. We’ve been around since 1993. This is our 29th year. For the past two years, of course, we’ve had COVID and the pandemic, so we’ve been doing everything virtually, our auction. But we’re so excited tonight to be in person and see all of our fans, just everyone out and about. It’s really going to be a nice feeling.”
Pusich said it was a good feeling that Juneau was celebrating its trail system.
“It’s an amazing feeling because Juneau, Trail Mix is kind of the steward of Juneau’s trails. And, you know, we take it seriously and we like to make sure that the trails are safe, well-maintained, and people get out and enjoy them. Because that’s really the heartbeat of Juneau when it comes to trail riding. I think we have a world-class trail system, and it continues to grow and improve.”
Pusich told how his live and silent auctions worked.
“We have what we call silent auction items. And those are items that are displayed on the tables there. And we have an app that runs through the phone called ‘Manual Bidding.’ And all of these auction items are in the app that we have in the Trail Mix auction. And so people can sign up in the app and then go through all the items that we’ve listed and submit a bid. So that’s kind of a silent auction. The other couple of things that we have is the desert auction which is kind of a live desert auction so some of our generous members have donated cakes that are going up for auction tonight another way to raise some money then we have what we call our live auction with a more specialized and donated type of giveaways and features and events. Those will be like Alaska Airlines has two round tickets anywhere. So there are several different things in there that are pretty good, and we’ll have a live auctioneer to help us with that.”
