HOUGHTON — You may know him from the satisfying Netflix show “Is it cake?” or maybe you saw him on Nick Cannon’s MTV comedy series “Wild and Out” for seven seasons.
“Saturday Night Live” Cast member Mikey Day will present stand-up comedy on Friday, February 10 during the Michigan Tech Winter Carnival. Doors open at 8:15 pm and the show begins at 9:00 pm Blue Key National Honor Society and Late Night Programming on MTU present the comedian at the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.
Guests can expect about 30 minutes of stand-up comedy and 30 minutes of questions and answers. Event organizers say content will include college humor, mature themes and adult language. The cost is $20 for general admission and MTU students are free.
Day recently completed his sixth season as “SNL” cast member after joining the show as a writer for the 2013-14 season. During her first season as a cast member, Day gained recognition for her popular “Haunted Elevator (with David S. Pumpkins)” sketch with Tom Hanks, as well as his impersonation of Donald Trump Jr.
Day is the host of the hit Netflix baking contest series. “Is it cake?” It will return for a second season.
Day was a member of the Groundlings comedy troupe in Los Angeles and a cast member of the Nick Cannon MTV comedy series. “Wild and Out” for seven seasons. He was also a head writer at Cartoon Network. “Amazing crew,” co-writer and cast member at NBC Maya and Martin and co-writer of the 2016 comedy “Sister Nature”.
Beside “SNL” writer Streeter Seidell, Day wrote “Home Sweet Home Alone”. The duo is currently writing Disney’s reboots of “Inspector Gadget” Y “Space Camp,” as well as “The Rugrats Movie” for Nickelodeon/Paramount.
Day’s film credits include “Brittany runs a marathon”, the comedy produced by Will Packer “Little,” with Issa Rae, Adam Sandler’s film “Hubie Halloween” and more recently “black adam” Starring The Rock. He is currently filming the Jerry Seinfeld movie. “Thawed” for netflix.
Blue Key was established to organize and coordinate the Michigan Technological University Winter Carnival in a fair and equitable manner to serve the surrounding community.
Evening programming at Michigan Tech “It is an initiative implemented by student leadership and participation with the help and support of many student organizations and student leaders.” Entertainment is funded by the Student Activity Fee with additional support from co-sponsors.
The MTU Winter Carnival takes place from February 8 to 13.
