Multi-vehicle crash in Lafayette leaves one dead, two injured

LAFAYETTE (KPEL News) – Multiple vehicles were involved in a traffic accident on Foreman Drive in Lafayette, leaving one person dead and two others hospitalized, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

The accident occurred in the 500 block of Foreman at around 6:19 p.m., LPD said in a statement. The accident involved two motorcyclists, a bicyclist, and a car. Of the two victims who have been hospitalized, only one is in critical condition. The other is listed as stable.

The incident was located near the Lafayette High School and Crawfish Aquatics campus, and police were still on scene around 8:00 p.m., reportedly with that portion of the road closed while LPD investigated the accident.

Traffic deaths in Lafayette

Lafayette police have had to work several traffic deaths in recent weeks. Earlier this month, a pedestrian was struck and killed in the city. Ada Davis, 66, of Lafayette, was in the middle of the road in the 1600 block of Bertrand Drive when she was struck by the passenger side mirror of a vehicle traveling northbound in the inside lane.

In late October, 21-year-old Theophilus Rose of Lafayette was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on felony hit and run charges. Bail for him was set at $25,000.

The pedestrian, Ronald Keith Williams Jr. of Duson, was walking down the street on Monday night, October 17, when a vehicle operated by Rose struck the victim. Rose fled the scene of the accident before first responders arrived.
