PILLSBURY ESTATE TASTING HOUSE

Sam Pillsbury was one of the first to start growing grapes in Arizona 22 years ago. With vineyards in Willcox, he has had a tasting room in Cottonwood for years, but recently moved from Main Street to a tasting HOUSE. The estate allows for private dining, events, and lounges, as well as a wine library and meeting spaces for groups. Pillsbury serves as Chef and Winemaker, telling us that his wines have won more awards in the last 8 years than almost any other winery in San Francisco’s celebrated American Wine Competition.

HOT DOG

“Sauvage” means “wild” or “natural” in French. Owner Chris Lingua says there are over 200 additives that can be added to wine other than grapes, so he likes to focus on AS CLOSE TO THE GRAPES as possible, or as natural as possible. Lingua opened this shop to demystify wine while also specializing in “low intervention” non-commercial (mass produced) wines. He loves it because there are always new wines to discover from different corners of the world. If you like to explore and savor the purest expression of the land and the grape, this is your style. At Sauvage, you’ll find more than 200 rotating wine selections available in store and online. Most selections range from $20 to $60, as well as a curated selection of artisan mezcals, Amari, organic Port, and digestifs. Sauvage plans to move to a house in downtown Phoenix in the new year. Stay tuned on the website and Instagram for more information.
