The award-winning bakery has announced a new partnership with one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains.
Harry Gow products are now available at Morrisons’ Inverness and Alness branches as part of a trial with the popular supermarket brand.
The move comes after the Culloden-based bakery’s signature breads, rolls and sweets were the most requested products by Morrisons customers in the north of Scotland.
If sales remain strong, the popular cakes will become a permanent fixture on the supermarket chain’s shelves.
David Gow, Director of Harry Gow, said: “We were delighted when Morrisons let us know that their customers had requested our products in store, and we are excited to partner with the supermarket teams here in Highlands to make it happen.
“We are proud of our Harry Gow bakery heritage and are always looking for new ways to bring our products to the people who love them. Being able to offer our cakes as people pick up their weekly groceries is fantastic, and we can’t wait to see the outcome of the trial period.”
Items on offer at Morrisons include the bakery’s signature dream rings and award-winning vanilla and raspberry slices, plus empire sponge cakes, fairy cakes, plain and fruit scones, and Christmas mince pies. Harry Gow also offers a selection of breads and rolls, including light rye, wholemeal and white bread, morning rolls and softies.
Robert MacMillan, Morrisons General Manager, said: “As a local lad growing up in Inverness and a regular customer over the years with Harry Gow, I am proud to work in association with Harry Gow selling their quality products in my store.I truly believe in supporting local businesses and already have several ‘local’ businesses established in my store.
“The quality of Harry Gow products is some of the best I have seen and tested and this is a testament to the Harry Gow team as a collective. I look forward to the future and building the Harry Gow brand.”
Harry Gow has 18 stores spread across Inverness, Highlands and Moray, including one recently opened in conjunction with Asda. It was crowned 1st Scottish Bakery of the Year in 2012 and is to date the only bakery to have won the top award twice, winning again in 2019. Harry Gow products are also found in 34 Co-operative stores in the North from Scotland. .
