The 41st annual Christmas Stroll is the first weekend of December in downtown Georgetown around Courthouse Square. This free, family-friendly Christmas festival sponsored by the Georgetown Downtown Association is from 5-9 pm on Friday, December 2 and 10 am-8 pm on Saturday, December 3. See all the event details at TheGeorgetownSquare.com.
Saturday’s Christmas Stroll includes a parade at 10 am, live entertainment and holiday shopping at more than 160 vendor booths selling crafts, clothing and jewelry, as well as downtown merchants. The food court areas offer a variety of foods, including sweet and savory crepes, barbecue, hot chocolate, funnel cake, and other seasonal treats. Enjoy Santa’s Village on Saturday, including photos and visits with Santa from 11 am to 6 pm on the west side of the Williamson County Courthouse. Other photo opportunities include a large Christmas snow globe.
The young and young at heart can visit Country Wonderland with free activities including a four-season eurobungie jump, train ride, bouncy houses and other kid-friendly activities on Seventh and Eighth streets. The event also includes street hockey, arcade basketball, and a Who hair and face painting salon. Princesses and superheroes from the Greater Austin Comic Con will also be on hand for photos.
On Friday night, come dance the night away at Groovin’ with the Grinch at 6:00 pm at Main and Sixth streets. Hill Country Kettle Korn will provide free boiled corn for kids during the event.
Stop by Bethlehem Village on Fridays and Saturdays for booths, exhibits and costumed performers from the time of Jesus of Nazareth.
Parade at 10 am on Saturday
The Stroll parade begins at 10 am on Saturday. Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder will emcee the parade, looking for Santa as he marches through downtown. For safety reasons, the Georgetown Police Department asks that no candy or other objects be thrown from floats or parade participants.
If you come to the Stroll Parade, please bring a toy for Blue Santa. Blue Santa Elves will collect the new, unwrapped toys along the parade route, which runs down Church Street and Austin Avenue through the downtown plaza. Blue Santa is a program of the Georgetown Police Department to provide toys to children in need in Georgetown. New, unwrapped toys can also be brought to the donation barrels at many Georgetown locations. For donation barrel sites and more information, go to BlueSanta.Georgetown.org.
