One year ago today (November 17), the world tragically lost young dolph. Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis on November 17, 2021. He was 36 years old. WREG reports Memphis police said a male victim was located and pronounced dead at the scene and confirmed Dolph was the victim.
Officers and witnesses gathered in front of a broken window at Makeda’s Butter Cookies, a bakery in a local Memphis shopping center. A man who identified himself as the business owner said a young man was shot while buying cookies. TMZ reports that the rapper’s vehicle was found outside of Makeda.
Dolph was pronounced dead at the scene. Since then, two suspects have been arrested and charged with his murder.
One year later, though he may no longer be here with us physically, two elements of his legacy live on: philanthropy and musical excellence.
In honor of the Memphis rapper, #DolphDay is celebrated with a nationwide Day of Service in Tennessee and Georgia, commemorated with a variety of philanthropic activations across the country.
“[Dolph’s] the efforts and traditions of the community will continue and much more”, carlisa morenothe late artist’s sister said Tuesday in a statement. “His spirit of generosity from him will continue to live in us as it did in him until his death. We hope those who truly supported him will take Young Dolph’s Day of Service as a day to give back and help those who need help like he did.”
In Memphis, the IdaMae Foundation is offering free haircuts and serving lunch at the Hospitality Hub today. According to the commercial appeal, free kits containing winter items such as gloves, blankets and more will be made available to those in need. In Atlanta, free dinner and haircuts will be provided at the Evolution Center.

Not in either of the two cities? Dolph Day of Service also extends to other regions of the US where, in partnership with the Confess Project of America, haircuts and mental health services will be provided in states including California, Maryland, Arkansas, Texas, Kentucky, Ohio and Mass.
