Calling all holiday shoppers: Small Business Saturday is just around the corner.
Support Pocono business owners while avoiding crowded big-name stores and chain restaurants on November 26.
Why it matters:Isabella Casillas Guzmán, director of the US Small Business Administration, is asking Americans to “buy little” this year.
“As our economy continues to stabilize, it is more important than ever for consumers to shop and dine lightly during the holiday shopping season,” Guzmán said in a statement. “We continue to see positive impacts and opportunities for our small business owners through President Biden’s economic agenda, and Small Business Saturday is another opportunity to further empower American entrepreneurs with our online and local spending and promotion.”

Small Business Saturday was founded in 2011 by American Express as a day dedicated to supporting the diverse range of local businesses that create jobs, help boost the economy and improve neighborhoods across the country.
According to Amex, total projected spending among consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday last year hit a record with an estimated total of $23.3 billion.
