Even as 2022 draws to a close, Houston’s restaurant and bar scene remains strong, with multiple new venues springing up across the city. TANGLEWOOD— Three Brothers Bakery opened its fourth store at 574 Chimney Rock Road. The first Jewish bakery outpost since opening its third location in 2014 is baking a variety of cakes, cookies, pastries, bread and more, along with plenty of coffee and beverages.

MONTROSE — Vibrant reopened at 1931 Fairview Street, with a new menu designed by executive chef Patti Delgado and a nutritionist hoping to make each meal anti-inflammatory and nutritious, according to a statement. THE LAND OF SUGAR – Inspired by Italian-American restaurants in New York, restaurateur Ben Berg officially inaugurated BB Italia Bistro & Bar on November 8. Relocated from Memorial to 16250 City Walk in Sugar Land Town Square, the restaurant reopens and offers Italian fare, including homemade pasta, pizza, protein-focused hero entrees and side sandwiches. HEIGHTS – The Goode Company hospitality group inaugurated its third location in Goode Co. Kitchen and Canteen at 1801 Yale Street on Nov. 8, offering your Tex-Mex staples, including guacamole, campechana, pork, green chile empanadas and made-to-order pork tamales. The restaurant has other locations in the Memorial and Woodlands area.

HEIGHTS – Dak & Bop owner Jason Cho goes beyond Korean fried chicken with his new steakhouse, Karne. Located at 2805 White Oak Drive, Suite 100, the restaurant began dine-in service on November 11, cooking up premium meats, including dry-cured prime cuts of beef and American and Japanese wagyu.

RIVER OAKS — Southern California Sushi Restaurant TEN Sushi + Cocktails is making a cut at River Oaks, with its bright-pink decor featuring eye-catching cherry blossoms, lauded black rice rolls, and tiki cocktails. Located at 4200 Westheimer Road in the 200 Park Place skyscraper, the 2,800-square-foot restaurant seats up to 80 and features a full-service sushi bar and a charming patio overlooking Mid Lane. Daily Dose Hospitality Group, which also owns Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, opened the restaurant on November 17, marking its second location outside of Orange County, California.

RIVER OAKS — The Woodlands Italian Restaurant zanti kitchen opened its second River Oaks-area outpost on Nov. 7, bringing to Houston its Neapolitan-style pizzas, appetizers like beef tartare, and decadent pasta dishes like its pappardelle al ragù di ossobuco and spaghetti with black truffle that is prepared tableside in Houston. Katy- International dim sum chain tim ho wan opened its first Texas location at 23330 Grand Circle Boulevard, Suite 180 on November 7, featuring its best-known dishes such as baked pork bao buns, har gow, shu mai and more.

KINGWOOD— Kolache Store opened its third Kingwood location at 4521 Kingwood Drive. Similar to the Heights location, the new location will offer their specialty kolaches and coffees and feature a dog-friendly outdoor patio and select tables inside with a window for to-go or to-go orders. Local owners have plans to source smoked brisket from Tin Roof BBQ in nearby Humble to use in their pies.

RICE VILLAGE — James Beard Award-nominated chef Aaron Bludorn has opened his second restaurant Navy blue on November 18, led by New York chef Jerrod Zifchak.
