From December 1 to 25: JW Marriott Hotel Seoul celebrates the arrival of Christmas with a selection of limited-edition 2022 holiday cakes made by the hotel’s pastry team. This year’s selection includes a variety of themed cakes including creations in white, reminiscent of freshly fallen snow, and in Christmas-inspired shades of green and red, complemented by a variety of traditional Christmas breads from around the world.

Five seasonal cakes include the signature Winter Atelier, chocolate cake sheets interspersed with chocolate balls and vanilla mascarpone smooth cream and decorated with white chocolate teddy bears and chocolate balls. The Evergreen Christmas is a mousse cake made in the shape of a Christmas wreath garnished with leaf-shaped chocolates, with a rich texture that combines spicy cassis jelly, crunchy pistachio feuilletines and dacquoise. An annual favorite, White Chocolate Berry Box features three layers of white sponge cake spread with strawberry jam and filled with strawberries and whipped cream, then enrobed in chocolate, perfectly balanced with the aromas of fresh, seasonal fruit. Reinterpreted in the unique style of the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, the Bûche de Noël is decorated with teddy bear figurines with a mix of early gray berry chocolate mousse filled with cherry jelly, white croissant and chocolate sponge cake. Finally, the Ginger Santa is covered in vanilla custard and caramelized apple, and garnished with colorful sugar balls.

This year’s festive selection also includes Stollen, a fragrant German-style Christmas bread, traditional Italian Christmas bread Panettone and Pandoro, and a variety of Christmas Bell Sand Cookies.

The 2022 limited edition Christmas cakes are available from December 1 to 25 at Patisserie on the second floor of the hotel, while Christmas bread can be purchased at Cafe One on the first floor. The ten percent savings are available with reservations made in advance through Naver, for pickup anytime through December 25. Cakes and breads are priced from 4,500 won ($3) to 130,000 won.

Until December 30: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic recession, public interest in donations has been low in recent years. According to a survey conducted by market research organization Embrain Trend Monitor, the percentage of respondents with donation experience has steadily decreased from 84.7% in 2018 to 77.1% in 2019, 78.6% in 2020, and 76, 3% in 2021. Donation organizations including Babsang and Foodbank also reported that the number of donated items has dropped dramatically this year compared to the previous year.

While the donation community is experiencing a slump, Parnas Hotel CEO Yeo In-chang has been running a year-end charity drive consistently for 20 years in a row. The Parnas Hotel’s “Christmas Tree of Hope” campaign is part of the “Hopeful Ondol Project for a Warm Winter” organized by the Gangnam District and the Community Chest of Korea, and this year’s goal is to achieve 140 percent of total donations from last year in celebration of the campaign’s 20th year.

The Christmas Tree of Hope campaign, which runs through December 30, is accomplished through the sale of InterContinental’s signature bear-shaped toy I-Bear. Backers can purchase I-Bear of different sizes available for 100,000 won or 1,000,000 won. Each I-Bear purchased as a corporate or individual donation will be displayed in the lobby of the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas with the company logo or “Love Card” completed by the sponsor.

The number of sponsors participating in the Christmas Tree of Hope Campaign is growing steadily each year. In 2020, the number of individual sponsors surpassed that of corporate sponsors for the first time. As a result, I-Bear sold out for the first time last year and the donation goal was exceeded by 10 percent. Donations can be made via the QR code on the notice placed in the InterContinental Parnas lobby.

The renovation of the central space of InterContinental Parnas has realized its design visions, “Return to Nature”, “Aesthetics of Balance” and “Exquisiteness” all at once. Against the backdrop of a spacious environment maximized by a high ceiling, nature-inspired curves are found in the design of furniture and partitions. Furnishings accented by deep blue inspired by the ocean, as well as yellowish brown reminiscent of dirt floors, create an environment that is both natural and modern.

The Lobby Lounge & Bar is expected to become a must-visit spot for guests looking for a photogenic spot with a festive New Years atmosphere. Here, visitors can enjoy the seven-meter-high Christmas tree, arranged in a cascading fashion that falls from the ceiling.

InterContinental Parnas presents Lumière Royal High Tea together with Trudon, a French luxury candle brand with 400 years of history, to celebrate the reopening of the Lobby Lounge & Bar. Lumière Royal High Tea, a name inspired by the French word for “light” , comprises high-quality items from French cuisine. Includes candle-shaped cannele from Trudon scented candle brand, which illuminated the Palace of Versailles for the French royal family in the past, chocolate, Mont Blanc, croissant sandwich and snails a la provence.

In addition, Trudon’s scented cameo, which creates fragrant memories, and Sofistics perfume are included as a gift. Lumière Royal High Tea is available at 100,000 won for two in a limited quantity per day at Lobby Lounge & Bar until December 31.

Until December 25: Fairmont Ambassador Seoul celebrates the excitement of the festive season with Blanc de Blancs Champagne High Tea at Fairmont, which is served at The Atrium Lounge through December 25 and features a selection of holiday-themed desserts.

Highlights of the dessert menu include Paris-brest, a wreath-shaped Christmas treat filled with hazelnut cream; Christmas tree cupcakes, rich chocolate muffins topped with green tea cream; white Mont-Blancs infused with aromas of fresh lime and yuja; Christmas ornament shaped mousse tarts filled with chocolate mousse and mixed berry whipped cream; chocolate ganache cookies made with Valrhona cocoa powder; and soft blueberry scones and cheese scones. The tasty menu includes tuna spheres, homemade crackers topped with premium tuna and caviar; beetroot pillows, filled with white balsamic pearls and goat cheese for an irresistible mix of flavors; green pea choux, freshly baked choux stuffed with organic peas and homemade wasabi mayonnaise; and savory bites, homemade brioche topped with caramelized apples and cranberries and Camembert cheese.

Tea sets for two are accompanied with a choice of a limited-edition seasonal beverage or cup or glass of tea, coffee, or a limited-edition beverage. To celebrate the festive season, a glass of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne is also served per person. Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is a non-vintage champagne made from Chardonnay grapes harvested over several years by Ruinart, the world’s oldest traditional champagne house. Combining citrus notes and uplifting floral aromas for a smooth and charismatic drinking experience, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is ideal to enjoy with afternoon tea.

The Blanc de Blancs Champagne High Tea is served in The Atrium Lounge, on the first floor of the hotel, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with prior reservation. It is priced at 85,000 won per person, with a minimum order of two diners.
